Ashton Thomas DeWitt Clark McLaurin, son of the late Albert H. Clark Jr. & June Doris McLaurin Jeffers; grandson of the late Lorenzo H. McLaurin & Lillian H. McLaurin.
“Tom or Tom-Tom” as he is so affectionately called, attended Lincoln Elementary, Reidsville Middle, Reidsville Jr. High School and is a graduate of Reidsville Senior High Class of 1978. He went on to further his education and attended North Carolina State University, John Tyler Community College School of Mortuary Science, Strayer University and Rockingham Community College.
In 1988 he became a Licensed Funeral Director and thus began his tenure as Manager of the funeral home.
Tom has a passion for Community Service and is the Coordinator for the Lillian H. McLaurin Good Neighbor Association, which was named after his grandmother as some may remember as “Mrs. Mac”. Tom is also a member of Reidsville Chamber of Commerce, Lone Star Lodge #33 PHA since 1982, Fellow’s Club, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, American Legion Sons of the Veterans, African American Caucus of Rockingham County Democratic Party June McLaurin Jeffers Chapter, Reidsville Chapter of the NAACP, and the Assistant Advisor for the Reidsville Chapter of the NAACP Youth Branch.
Tom is a member of the Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Reidsville, North Carolina where he serves on the Evangelism Committee, Men Fellowship and Helping Hands/ Relay for Life Team.
Tom is married to Yolanda H. McLaurin, and they have 2 daughters, 1 son and 2 grandchildren. He has 1 brother, Anthony L. Clark McLaurin.
Tom passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024.
