Ms. Willie Mae Slade, daughter of the late Eunice Breeze and Mr. Joe Slade, was born in Alamance County N.C. on August 20, 1939.
She graduated from Brown Summit High School. She resided in Rockingham County until her passing.
Willie Mae lived life to the fullest. She leaves behind many loved ones and friends.
One of her favorite passions was sitting on the fishing bank and enjoying the outdoors with her fishing buddies. She had a ready smile and a quick comeback. She spoke her mind and kept you on your toes. Willie Mae loved singing and was a member of the Inspirational Choir at Rock Grove Church for many years. She was always ready to lend a helping hand. When she was dealing with life's ups and downs, fishing helped her to have some quiet time to relax.
Willie Mae loved her boys and taught them many life lessons. She wanted them to grow up to be strong men: To always love each other and keep the things she taught them in their hearts. She encouraged them to teach their children to be strong, wise, and always show love.
Willie Mae was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Slade; her parents, Eunice Breeze, and Joseph Slade; siblings, Wallace Slade, Hubert Slade, Maggie Pullum, and Joyce Slade.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving son, Eric Drante Slade; grandchildren, Eric Slade, Jr., Janet Slade, and Christopher Slade; granddaughter, Lamya Slade; sisters, Clarisa Crite, Louise Thaxton, Annie Mae Totton, and Elder Evanell Blackwell; brothers, Roy Lee Slade, and Donnell Slade; aunts, Mary Slade and Georgia Graves-Dalton and a host of family and friends.
