Obituary

Deacon William Frederick Withers, the second Child born to William Lindsey Withers and Edna Powell Withers on August 8, 1951 in Newport News, Va.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church with a visitation 1:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service and burial in the Elm Grove church cemetery.

Following several months of illness, on Monday, February 15, 2016, William "Fred" Withers peacefully made his transition into life everlasting at the Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

As a resident of Rockingham Co. for the majority of his life, he attended the local public schools and also Job Corps, Asheville, NC. He was employed by Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.
At an early age Fred accepted Christ as his Savior and united with Elm Grove Baptist Church. He met and married his wife, the former Delores Harris, April 10, 1989. During these years of togetherness they founded and established Love and Faith Temple of Deliverance.
His walk of faith as a Deacon leaves a good example of a beautiful life of Christian Service.

"Freddie G" as he was affectionately called by his family, was known for his loving personaility, he greeted everyone with "Hello my Friend". He indeed leaves a legacy of love, peace and happiness for us to cherish.

He was preceded in death by his father; William Lindsey Withers.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 26 years; Delores H. Withers, Mother; Mrs. Edna P. Withers, two Sons; Elder William F. Withers II (Min. Wendy), Reidsville, NC., Gary Gerrode Withers, Jacksonville, Fl., one brother; Gerald Withers, two sisters; Patricia W. Fountain, Velma W. Davis all of Reidsville, NC, three grandchildren; Samuel Hakeen J. Withers, William G. Withers and Tamia Chennell Withers, three step children; Marcus Harris (Tanika), Carla Graves(Kevin), Joe Junior Harris (Aricia), six step grandchildren, one great step grandchild, two aunts; Elsie P. Cobb (Freeman), Reidsville, NC, Lena McDaniel, Eden, NC, 1 uncle; Garfield Withers(Lydia), Reidsville, NC, two nieces; three nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
