Obituary

Mr. Wallace Virnell Badgett, son of Pattie and Theodis Badgett, was born on March 30, 1947 in Caswell County, NC. He passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 in Walton New York.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at New Ephesus Baptist Church, Ruffin, NC, with Rev. Ralph Watkins bringing the eulogy. There will be a visitation 12:30-1:00 P.M. prior to the service and burial will follow in the New Ephesus Church Cemetery.

Wallace attended Stoney Creek Elementary School and went on to Reidsville High School. He relocated to New York City and began working in the mailroom at Montiefiore Hospital. He was an active member of Local 1199 during his employment.

Wallace met and married Betty L. Brown of Bronx, NY on January 24th, 1970. Out of this union two children were born: a son, Levar Virnell Badgett and daughter Angelise Monique Francis (Mario).

While employed at Montiefiore Hospital he attended ECPI Institute of Computer Technology and began a career in computer programming and information specialist.
He left Montiefiore and began working for Thompson McKennon Inc. in New York City. After many years he was later employed by the City of New York at Financial Information Service Agency in Manhattan where he remained until his retirement on December 1, 2010.
Wallace received many service awards for his loyalty, dedication, and outstanding performance during his tenure with the City of New York. At the time of his retirement he had been promoted to Manager of Tech Support.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Theodis and Pattie Badgett and one sibling, Bobby Withers.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Betty Badgett, son, Levar Badgett of Raleigh NC, daughter Angelise Francis (Mario) of Richmond VA, three grandchildren, Marlique Francis, Shahkem Badgett and little Alex Versii Badgett.
Four Sisters: Mary Barrett of Bronx NY, Marion Thompson of. Gathersburg, Maryland, Melba Hale (Brad), San Diego CA, and Annette Rice, Durham NC. Three brothers: Joe Badgett, Chicago IL, Theodis Badgett (Linda), Beaver Falls PA, and Anthony Badgett (Anita) of Juilan NC.
Aunt Bettie Edwards, Bronx NY, Aunt Alice and Uncle William A. Badgett of Hampton VA, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He had a heart of a warrior, an abiding love for God, and a love for family that will live on.

Public viewing will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 2:30 pm until 7:00 pm at McLaurin Funeral Home.
