On October 7, 2020, the Lord stretched out His hand as dispatched His angels to welcome home His daughter, Wynona Estelle Brown Conner. "Stelle", as she was  affectionately known, was born on June 5, 1937, in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late William T. Brown and Gertrude Deny Brown.

A native of Reidsville, North Carolina, she attended the local public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1955.  Following graduation, she moved to New York City and found employment at Lazare Financial Corporation until her retirement.  There, she met George A. Conner and they united in marriage on May 3, 1975 in New York, NY. They resided in New York City until their retirement and then returned to Reidsville, North Carolina.

"Mama Stell" was a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church, where she was a member of various choirs and a very active member of the youth department. Her compassionate and treasured love for children was evident as she opened her heart and her home to many.

"Stell", a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother, was also an amazing friend to many of whom were blessed to have known her.  Her favorite pastime was cooking and inviting family and friends over to enjoy her delicious food.  She loved and enjoyed the company of those ready to make her laugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Conner; her parents, William T. Brown and Gertrude D. Brown; sister, Caroline B. Booker; and brothers, George H. Brown Sr., and Samuel E. Brown.

Estelle leaves to cherish loving memories: her loving daughter, Shari Brown Pressley (James); special grandson, Donald Jerrell Brown; special grand-daughter Shania Conner; sons, George L. Conner, and Kenneth A. Conner; sisters, Verdell (twin sister) B. Lane (Willie), and Rebecca Bossier; brothers, W.T. Brown Jr., James A. Brown, and Fletcher T. Brown; sister-in-law, Evelyn Hawkins; brother-in-law, William Conner; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends.
