Mrs. Virginia Carrie Wilson Alford Bell, age 81, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Honoring her request, there will be no public viewing. You may sign the register Friday from 12 until 6 p.m.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 12 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. Elder Ernest Cannon will deliver the words of comfort.
Inurnment will follow in Elm Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.
Virginia Carrie Wilson Alford Bell was born to Laura Bell Wilson Alford and step- father, Robert Alford, (Charlie Leo Purcell, father) on March 26, 1943.
She was lovingly nicknamed "Mike" as a little girl as she loved to run around playing church with her older brother Lewis Cardell Alford. Virginia was an avid believer in family bonds/love. She was raised by her Aunt Rosie Millner whom she loved dearly.
During the early 60's, Virginia moved to Long Branch, New Jersey with her late husband Genie Bell. The two had a son, Darryl Bell, who was predeceased by Virginia in May of 2022.
She worked as a CNA/PCA for over 50 years in New Jersey and North Carolina.
Virginia is preceded in death by her mother, Laura Bell Wilson, Robert Alford (stepfather), Charlie Leo Purcell (father), Darryl Gregory Bell (beloved son), Genie Bell (husband) and her brother Lewis Cardell Alford.
Virginia leaves to mourn special cousins; Betty Jo Thomas of Reidsville NC, Mary Louise Millner of Mebane NC, Jennifer "Dump" Simpson of Greensboro NC, and Ramona Bankston, (the late Robert Bankston) of Reidsville NC, sister-in-law; Bertha Alford of Como, NC, (the late Lewis Cardell Alford III), nephews; Darren T. Alford of Murfreesboro NC, Lewis Cardell Alford IV; niece, Laura Eliec'e Alford and a host of relatives that she cherished deeply.
