At an early age Mae professed faith in Christ, was baptized and became a member of the New Ephesus Baptist Church where she was a member of the hospitality committee and the gospel choir. Mama, Mae, Granny Mae as she was affectionately called, faithfully attended her church as long as her health permitted.

Mae's greatest joy was the birth of her son, Larry, grandsons, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her family sincerely and earnestly called her "blessed". They admired her every being and without a doubt, she deserved it. Mae proved by the way she lived that family was a priority.

Those left to celebrate her life and cherish her memories are her son, Larry Motley (Carolyn) of Ruffin, NC; grandsons, Kelby Motley (Traci) of Madison, NC, Koran Motley (Amy) of Ruffin, NC; brother, Glidewell Brown of Reidsville, NC; great-granddaughters Kayla Swanson (Rontae) of Gibsonville, NC and Kiya Motley (Tydrick) of Ruffin, NC, and Kelci Motley of Madison, NC; great-great grandsons, Messiah and Nysir Brim of Ruffin, NC and Kai Swanson of Gibsonville, NC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, who loved and knew her to be the epitome of grace and courage and will miss her beautiful smile and cherish her memories.
