Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the son of Mavie Charles Dial and Metty Massey Dial. He is survived by two sons, Tommie Dial Jr (Marquita) of Atlanta Georgia, and TyJuan Dial (Wanja Smith) of Greenville, South Carolina,, two brothers Michael Dial and Billy Dial, four sisters, Dorothy Dial Richardson, Maxine Williams, Brenda McDonald, and Annie Jean Lindsay.
