Mr. Timothy "Tim" Graves, affectionately known as "Pooh Bear," of Reidsville, North Carolina, was born on July 25, 1963, to the late Mr. Bennie and Mrs. Carrie Martin Graves, Sr. He departed this life having touched many hearts with his love, laughter, and loyalty.
Tim was a true warrior for God—a man whose life was a testament to his unwavering devotion to his faith and his Savior. After accepting Christ, Tim made it his life's mission to deepen his personal relationship with Jesus. His heart burned with a passion for the Word, and he found great joy in discussing Scripture, studying the Bible, and sharing spiritual insights with others. A long-time viewer of TCT, Tim also drew strength and inspiration from listening to various ministers and Christian broadcasts, especially through the uplifting messages of K-LOVE radio. These spiritual practices became an integral part of his daily walk with Christ, helping him grow ever closer to the Lord he loved so deeply. Tim was formerly a member of Garret's Grove United Methodist Church in Gibsonville, NC and Word of Life Tabernacle in High Point, NC. One of Tim's most cherished Bible verses was 1 Timothy 1:12 (KJV) "And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry."
Tim was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Mrs. Terri M. Graves. Together for 23 years, their union was marked by deep devotion, quiet strength, and enduring faith. Terri was more than his partner—she was his peaceful comfort, his constant support, and his closest companion. Together, they shared the challenges and rewards of working the night shift, building a life of mutual respect, love, and unwavering commitment. Their love was a reflection of the steadfast foundation they shared in Jesus Christ, who remained the center of their relationship. His relationship with Terri was filled with respect, grace, patience, and joy, a bond that inspired those around them.
During Tim's illness, Terri never left his side. She remained constantly at his bedside, foregoing food, rest, and sleep to care for him with unwavering love and devotion. Her strength and selflessness were a testament to the depth of her love for her husband. She lovingly called him her "Pooh Bear," and her presence was a continual source of peace and comfort in his final days.
Tim's love extended far beyond his marriage—his heart was full of affection for his family, whom he cherished deeply. He was a source of strength, encouragement, and unconditional love. A proud graduate of Madison-Mayodan High School, Class of 1981, Tim later attended Winston-Salem State University, where he played on the football team and built friendships that would last a lifetime. His life was a shining example of faith, family, and perseverance.
He was part of a large and close-knit family, including sisters – Myrtle (Lewis) Kee, Edith (Arthur) Wiley, Rosetta (d. Lawrence) Williamson, Frances Graves, Louise (Quentin) Smith, Annie Lee (d. Ricky) Spain, Gayle Graves, Patricia Graves; sister-in-law, Lucheia "Toni" (d. Julius, Sr.) Graves; sister-in-law, Twanda Mitchell; brother-in-law, Rev. Lonnie Mitchell, Jr.; and father-in-law, Rev. Lonnie Mitchell, Sr.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Bennie and Mrs. Carrie Graves, Sr.; his sister, Mrs. Ellen Martin; and brothers, Mr. Bennie Graves and Mr. Julius Graves, Sr. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who loved him deeply.
Tim was a dedicated 25-year employee of United Parcel Service (UPS). He was well known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and warm personality. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, Tim also had a passion for fast cars. He was the proud owner of a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, a Corvette, and a Harley Davidson motorcycle—vehicles he loved and took great pride in.
Known by many as "Pooh Bear," Tim was the kind of man who could light up a room just by walking in. His sense of humor, playful nature, and quick wit brought joy to those around him. Whether he was telling a story, cracking a joke, or just being himself, his laughter was contagious, and his presence made people feel at ease. Tim's life was a reflection of love, loyalty, and laughter. His memory will live on through the stories shared, the smiles he inspired, and the lives he touched.
