On Sunday morning, December 14, 2025, Mr. Timothy Gregory Benton made his transition into life-eternal suddenly. Our beloved brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and loyal friend was born February 20, 1960 in Rockingham County, North Carolina to Mildred Hooper-Benton and the late Lorenzo Forrest Benton. He was baptized by Reverend P.J. Woods at a very early age at Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church of Reidsville, NC. At this church, he served in the junior choir and various other youth organizations.
As a resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina for the majority of his life, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1979. Upon graduating high school, he went on to serve in the US Army 4th Infantry Division Artillery from 1979-1984. Decorated with the Army service ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Driver's Badge.
Gregory was a retiree of Gildan of Eden, NC where he was employed for 20 years. His hobbies included DJing, tending to his car, cooking, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. He also marveled at playing chess. A skill he passed onto his son Jermaine along with the skill of bowling in which he passed on to both of his children. He was a proud, supportive and loving father, and "Papa Greg". Indeed, our beloved Gregory was a generous individual who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a protective individual over his family.
