On October 28, 2020, at the age of 60, Thomasine Virginia "Thommie" McAllister, passed away at her home in Mahwah, New Jersey.   Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 12 noon at Greenview Cemetery. Thomasine, daughter of the late, John Thomas McAllister, Sr. and Gladys Virginia Moore-McAllister, was born on March 20 1960 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.  She received her formal education at Harry S. Truman and graduated in the Class of '78.  In high school, she enjoyed such sports as basketball, baseball, tennis, swimming and soccer.  Thomasine was very popular and was also a member of the cheerleading squad.  Upon graduating high school, she briefly pursued modeling and acting careers, having appeared in hair magazines and on the soap opera, All My Children.

At a young age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was committed to serving God.  This was evidenced through her many contributions to the community, and as an active organizer/participant of the annual Valley Day event.

Before recognizing her true passion----healthy living and physical fitness, Thomasine worked for a period of time in the banking industry for Citibank Corporation.  It was around that time Thomasine began to redirect her career focus to fitness.  She completed extensive studies at New York University in the areas of nutrition, fitness assessment and sports conditioning.  She would go on to have a successful career as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, working in some of the Tri-State area's elite fitness clubs.  Over a career span of 40 years, Thomasine earned numerous certifications including:  NASM Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, and FNS Fitness Nutrition Specialist.

Thomasine's life will forever be cherished by her younger brother, John Thomas "Johnny G." McAllister, Jr.  of Bronx, New York;  her nieces, Shauntel McAllister, of Dumfries, VA and Jhonnia Smoak-McAllister of Greenville, SC; her nephews, Kyle McAllister of Fort Lauderdale, FL and John A. McAllister of Fayetteville, NC; two grandnieces Jaya and Joy of Dumfries, VA; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
