Obituary

EDEN, NC - Mr. Terrye Lynn Olverson, age 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at his residence.

Public viewing will begin on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 12 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 from the Robinson Memorial United Holy Church, 521 Turner Street, Eden, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the service at 1 p.m. Elder Leonard Thompson will officiate and Elder Derek King, eulogist.

All other times, the family will receive friends on Wednesday March, 11th through Thursday, March 12th from 3 until 7 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Chellie Mills and spouse Alpheus, 576 Plantation Drive, Axton, VA.

Mr. Terrye Lynn Olverson, affectionately known by his family and friends as "T.O", was born October 22, 1958 in Eden, North Carolina to the late John Olverson and Vivian Hairston Olverson.

Terrye attended Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC. He worked as a carpenter and was a highly skilled and sought-after painter until his health declined.

He was a member of Robinson Memorial United Holiness Church. Prior to his illness, he served as President of the Male Choir and also held roles as a trustee, usher, missionary, and member of the evangelism ministries and maintenance.

He was known for his infectious and humorous personality. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and fishing. He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Carolina Panthers, and he loved watching boxing and CNN.

He departed this life on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his home. He was preceded in death by his brothers Alvert and Von.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife Norma Olverson; seven children, Tameka Mills of Lawrenceville GA, Chellie Mills-Adams (Alpheus) of Axton Va, Terrye Hairston of Raleigh NC, Justyn Duke (Cortney) of Fort Meade MD, Terrence Maddox (Jerika) of Cincinnati OH, Tyshawn Olverson (Brittany) of Charlotte NC, and Aliayh Olverson of Raleigh NC; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Barrie Olverson of Eden NC, Tyrone Olverson (Shelly) of Columbus, OH, Jesse Olverson (Carla) of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Sharon Olverson of Eden, NC, Yulanda (Eric) of Cincinnati, OH, Nitiya (Travis) of Cincinnati, OH; his only living aunt, Sarah Manns, one special nephew, Ray-Ray, who was like a son, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, many cherished friends; and two special cousins that were like brothers, John Lindsay and Carl Singletary.

Terrye will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter and kindness will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
