REIDSVILLE - Mr. Steve Blackwell, age 69, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Annie Penn Hospital.

Public viewing will begin on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 12 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 1 p.m. from the McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will take place at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Samuel Moore, Jr., presiding and Dr. Neleeta Alexander, eulogist.

Steve was born in Washington, DC on February 28, 1956 to Earnest Milton Blackwell and Nellie Ashe Blackwell.

He was educated in the public schools and graduated from Reidsville High School and later attended Rockingham Community College majoring in Computer Science.

At one time, he worked at Miller Brewing Company in Eden NC. He later transitioned his career to American Tobacco Company in Reidsville, NC before relocating to Macon, GA where he worked at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company.

He was a loving dad and grandfather. In his spare time, he loved fishing and was a "Jack of All Trades". He was also a gifted builder as well as an avid drone operator.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, Earnest Blackwell; brother, Barry Blackwell.

Survivors include his daughter, Kenya Blackwell-Austin (Richard); mother, Nellie Ashe Blackwell; grandchildren, Jordan Kehon Johnson and Braxton Amir Austin; aunt, Loretta Graves; brothers, Earnest Blackwell Jr. and Brandon Scales; sisters, Ebony Branche, Erica Scales and Cabra Miles; a host of siblings, relatives and friends.
