Mr. Silver Ray Hairston Sr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Hospice of Rockingham.


Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 18, 2013 at McLaurin Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with a visitation 1:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service and burial in the Blackwell Baptist Church Cemetery.

Silver was born in Martinsville Virginia on March 9, 1942 to the late Handy Hairston and Harriett Hampton Hairston. He attended the Martinsville Public Schools and in his early years, he joined the Blue Stone Baptist Church, in Pelham, North Carolina. He was married to Frances Hairston for over 43 years and from that union 4 children were born: Silver Ray Hairston Jr. (Malissa), Annie Walker (Terry), Jeffery Hairston (Tammy), Ricky Hairston (Kimberley).

Silver was a loving father, brother and friend to many. He never met no strangers and would give you the shirt off his back; he loved people. He was employed by John Smith and Son in Eden, North Carolina until he retired.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother; Randolph Hairston.

For those who shall honor his memory and legacy, along with his four children, brother; Sam Hairston, Reidsville, NC, nine grandchildren; Olivia Hairston, jammica Hairston, gabby Pinnix, Kendrell Pinnix, Jamiah Hairston, Jasmin Hairston, Jeffery Hairston Jr., Jala Hairston, John Penn Jr., McKinley Hairston, one great grandson; Trey Person and a host of other relatives and friends.
