Miss. Shakiya Laneir Wilson, age 15, peacefully departed this life at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 20, 2023.

Public viewing will begin Friday, December 1, 2023 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Smyrna Church of Christ, 1025 Mizpah Church Road, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m.

The committal and interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery.

Shakiya Laneir Wilson was born on March 25, 2008, to her parents Shontez Wilson and Shaunta Jones.

Shakiya was a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina. She was a sophomore student at Reidsville High School, where she was a member of the indoor track and field team. She was employed at Wilson Appliances where she worked alongside her father.

Shakiya was the sweetest and most kindhearted girl. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. She loved to do hair and nails but also loved to ride four-wheelers. She loved traveling to the beach and Tennessee. She always wanted to make us smile whether it be by our endless talks, family game nights, singing, or dancing. She brought a love and light to our lives that can never be replaced. She will be greatly missed for the rest of our lives. Shakiya we love you and will miss you forever.

Survivors include father, Shontez Wilson; mother, Shaunta Jones (Eddie); siblings, Shaniya Wilson, Shyanne Wilson and Elijah Jones; paternal grandparents, Audrey Mae Wilson and Frank "Spanky" Wilson (Sharon); maternal grandparents, Maggie Mae Cummings (Ronnie), Stephen Williams (Donna) and Dalvin Simpson (Cynthia); maternal great-grandmother, Sarah Lynn; paternal uncles, Tyrone Wilson and Montez Wilson (Tiffany); paternal aunt, Katrina Pinnix (Junior); maternal uncles, Danny Simmons, Jr., and Stephen Williams Jr.; maternal aunts, Sydne' Simmons and Stephonya Williams; a host of cousins and friends.
