Obituary

Mr. Xavier Algene Broadnax ascended to a place of eternal peace on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Gibson House Hospice Home of Rockingham County, Reidsville, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. with family visitation one half hour prior to the services.  Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with burial to be held at Greenview Cemetery, Montgomery Street, Reidsville, NC.

X avier Algene Broadnax, son of the late Jasper Broadnax, Sr. and Fannie Mae Ivory Logan Broadnax, was born on May 5, 1953.

Sergeant First Class Broadnax served in the U.S. Army for twenty years.  His military accomplishments included the reception of the following distinctions:  Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal 1st OLC, Army Achievement Medal 2nd OLC, Southwest Asia Service Medal W/3 Bronze Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal 6th AWD, National Defense Service Medal W/2 Bronze Stars, NCO Professional Development Ribbon W/NUM 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon W/NUM 2, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle, M-16; Driver and Mechanic Badge, and Airborne Badge.  After retiring from the military, Mr. Broadnax went on to work five years at Fuji Foods. He retired after fifteen years of service from Equity Meats.

Mr. Broadnax enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his family. He had a taste for expensive cars and was an avid spades player. He was a hard worker and a very strong-minded individual, willing to give his opinion. He was treasured by his relatives and friends and continues to live on in their hearts.

In addition to his parents, siblings Reid, Ray, and Garland preceded him in death.

Surviving relatives who shall forever cherish his memory: six sisters, Leatrice Lambe, Linda Farmer (John), Charlene Kelly, Annie Jones (Terry), Karen Jones and Lea Johnson; three brothers, Jasper Broadnax, Jr. (Lavinia), Clent Broadnax, and Charles Broadnax; special cousin, Earl Freddie Logan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. C ovid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
