"Sammy" as he was affectionately called was born August 3, 1947, to the late Robert Earl and Fannie Cooper Barnett. Sammy attended the Rockingham County School Systems.
He was a member of Jerusalem United Holy Church, Reidsville NC.
Sammy held various job positions with companies that included Spray Cotton Mills, Sarah Lee Corporation, Zarn Inc., and many years at Genesis dry cleaners. He took special pride during his employment as a truck driver where he utilized the CB Handle "Fat Man". Truly loving, charismatic, and enthusiastic are words that describe Sammy perfectly. He possessed positive motivation to anyone who knew him. He was fun-loving and outgoing. He was a lover of a good game of Spades or Rook, drag racing his Plymouth Road Runner, where he won a few trophies, and RC vehicles. Sam loved a good road trip and listening to his favorite tunes and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan! His dress-up attire was usually that of White Linin with good clean smelling cologne when he cruised in one of his big cars, a Cadillac, Buick, or even his Chrysler 300. If there was a family cook-out Sammy was there as he loved good cooking and family time. He lovingly referred to his daughter, grandchildren, nieces and nephews as his "BOYS" regardless of gender. He was proud to be a Barnett.
Sammy was preceded in death by his father Robert Earl Barnett, Mother Fannie Cooper-Barnett, brother Robert Edward Winslow Barnett, sister Mama Lee Barnett, and brother Walter David Barnett.
He leaves to Cherish his memory daughter LaTonya Renae Bridges (Todd), sisters Mattie Bell Moyer, Viola Lee Martin, Nancy Barnett-Moyer (Thomas), Fay Sue Barnett-Wilson, and brother Payton Washington Barnett. Grandchildren India, Jaikayle, and Starr, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Also surviving are God sons Gregory and Randy Lee as well as a special cousin Vonda Obey.
