Obituary

Mrs. Ruth Bell Settle passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Hospice of Rockingham County.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Reidsville, NC, with a visitation 1:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." ~Isaiah 40: 31~

Ruth was born on December 24, 1924 to the late, Roy and Rosa Bell in Rockingham County, North Carolina.

She received her formal education in the Rock-ingham County Schools in Reidsville, North Carolina. Ruth accepted Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age and was united with Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church; where she served as a Com-munion Steward. She also was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church where she worked with her husband diligently.

Ruth Bell was united in holy matrimony to Rev. Johnnie F. Settle in South Carolina. Their union was blessed with four wonderful children. She was employed by P. Lorillard Tobacco Company for over 30 years. In her leisure, she enjoyed: baking, cooking, gardening, sewing, singing and spending time with family and friends. She had a great interest, and passion for Ladies in Community, Home Extension Services, Guilford Women's Auxiliary – Past President and United Methodist Women.

On Monday, June 23, 2014, God looked down on his child and said, "I see your struggles, and I know you have done your best. Now it's time "Ruth Missouria Bell Settle" for you to come home and let me give you sweet rest and your crown of righteousness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Rosa Bell; her husband, Rev. Johnnie F. Settle; one daughter, Ida Lee Settle Starke; three sisters, Sadie Herbin, Louise Henderson and Marion Maynard ; five brothers, Malcus Bell, William Bell, Roland Bell, Waddell Bell and George Bell.

With hearts grateful for her life and saddened by her passing, she leaves to cherish her love and memories: daughters, Josephine (Paul) Stokes, Patricia Settle and Willie Settle; adopted daughter, Charman Starke; eight grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers, Josephus (Mattie) Bell and Albert (Mildred) Bell; one sister, Jeanette McAdoo; sister - in - law, Addie Bell; son - in - law, Robert Starke and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and treasured friends.
