REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Ruth Mozelle Maynard Blackwell, age 83, transitioned to her eternal home on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Ancora Compassionate Care.
Public viewing will begin on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc., 600 McWalker Road, Reidsville, NC. Pastor, Elder Melvin McLean, Jr. will deliver the words of comfort. The family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Ruth was born on July 25, 1940 to the late Major and Lillie Maynard in Reidsville, NC. She was the youngest of eight children.
She was educated in the Rockingham County Schools System and went on to pursue her associate degree in Business Administration at Croft Business College in Greensboro, NC.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Hershel Moses Blackwell on September 23, 1957. To this union three children were born.
Ruth was an anointed poet who was published by World of Poetry. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Burlington Industries and later in life at Benaja Mount Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc., where she was a faithful member, choir director, prayer warrior, choir member, sister and friend.
Ruth loved her Lord and Savior, and she was not ashamed to tell anyone she met just that. Always ready to lift you up in a word of prayer at any moment. In her unwavering faith, she found solace and strength in the world of God. She believed deeply in his guidance and grace which she shared through her kind words and her loving actions.
Ruth was preceded in death by her grandson, Eric A. Moore; brother, Major Maynard Jr., Floyd Maynard, James "Red" Maynard, David Maynard and James "Pete" Herbin; sisters, Octavia Harden and Leona Hall.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, three sons, Hershel K. Blackwell (Betty), JeRome Blackwell, both of Reidsville, NC and Brent Blackwell (Amanda) of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Tyrell Singletary (Michael), Stanley Rankin (Delta), Byron Moore (JaWanda), Dominique Blackwell (Tiffany), Bryson Blackwell, Jurnee Blackwell; great grandchildren, Jayron Rankin, Jasahn Rankin, Jahki Rankin, Michaela Singletary, Myracle Monk, Janya Moor, Jalaya Moore, Byron Moore Jr., Aubrie Blackwell, Dominique Blackwell Jr.; great-great grandchild, Melody Monk; sister, Mary Williamson; goddaughters, Lisa Murray (Cecil); Kimberly Williams, Janice Smith and Debra Slade; brothers-in-law, Russell Blackwell and George Blackwell; sisters-in-laws, Bertha Stubblefield (Boyd) and Pat Maynard; a host of relatives and friends.
