Obituary

Russell Thomas funeral services will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Smyrna Church of Christ.
Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service.
Public viewing will be Friday, 12:00 noon until 7:00 p.m.

Russell Thomas, son of the late Calvin & Pearl Thomas, was born on December 4, 1928. He departed his earthly life on Friday, January 5, 2018.

He was born in Guilford County, North Carolina and lived the majority of his life in Caswell County, North Carolina. Russell was a very hard worker in his younger days as a farmer. He was well known for having the longest tobacco rows and biggest fields; he had many crops all around the Rockingham and Caswell County areas. He also worked in manufacturers at Cones Mill & Engineered Controls Inc. After his retirement, he enjoyed sitting on his front porch, spending time with his family and going to church, where he was a member of Locust Hill Apostolic Church.

Russell was a loving husband, for 68 years until the death of his wife Lottie Graves Thomas on April 23, 2017, loving father of 13 children, grandfather of 53 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great grandchildren, he created 5 generations.

Although Russell had raised 13 children of his own, he still had enough love to give to a lot of others. Russell will be well remembered by his family and friends whom he left great memories with. He impacted a lot of lives, with his caring and loving spirit.

Parents; Calvin & Pearl Thomas; Wife; Lottie Graves Thomas; daughter; Linda Dickerson; grandsons; Michael Thomas Jr. and John Price Jr. godson; James Carter, 23 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Surviving relatives & special friends to cherish his memory, include: Sons; Clifford Thomas (Joyce), Clinton Thomas, Leon Thomas (Rhonda), Barry Thomas (Toni), Wayne Thomas (Monica), Michael Thomas, & Rodney Thomas; Daughters; Gail Price (John), Gloria Faye Thomas, Ernestine Rogers (Jody), Wendy Wingate (Orlando), & Cindy Yancey (Daren); brothers; John Thomas (Jane), & Floyd Watlington. Brother-in-law Sylvester Pinnix, and sister-in-law Ivadell Graves; godsons; David Morehead, Norris Carter, and Jerry Settle; Special nephews: Angelo Galloway (Penny) & Kenneth Turner (Nance); special cousin Lucille Graves; special friends: James & Betty Mills, his nurse Johnnie Mae German and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
