Mr. Robert Pickard transitioned from his earthly home on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Grooms Missionary Baptist Church with family visitation one half hour prior to the services and burial in the Grooms' Church cemetery. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel.
Robert Evette Pickard, affectionately known to family members as "Pudding", was born on May 11, 1944, in Reidsville, NC to the late Edna and Rev. James Pickard Sr.
"Pick" was a lifelong citizen of Rockingham County and attended Booker T. Washington High School in Reidsville, NC. Robert was also a member of Grooms Missionary Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC.
Robert was a great family man and a loving father and grandfather. In 1977, he married his wife, Clementine, and cherished all 44 years of their union together. As a Rockingham County native, Robert was employed at Cone Mills and Burlington Industries for many years.
Robert was a very social, active man who really enjoyed his sports, DIY projects and spending time with his family. Throughout Rockingham and neighboring counties, many people thought very highly of Robert and considered him a friend. His family and friends will always remember him as a dedicated, hardworking person that loved his Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his loving brothers, James Pickard Jr., Charles Pickard Sr., William Henry Pickard, and Thomas Lee Pickard, as well as loving sisters, Pearl Pickard-Wilson and Sarah Pickard-Brown.
Robert is survived by: his beautiful wife, Clementine Pickard; loving sons, Steve Harrison and Clint Harrison (Lamisha); grandchildren, Kyreik, Kiana, Ste'vian and Kendre'; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. C ovid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
