Dr. Robert J. Morrow, Jr. "Bob", son of the late Rollins and Bertha Bettis Morrow, was born on February 3, 1926, in Charleston, WV. He began his education in Steubenville, OH, but after "The Great Depression", his family relocated to Greensboro, NC where he attended J. C. Price and Dudley High School. He was very active in all sports activities and during his school years, he worked in his family's café business located on Lewis Street in Greensboro. He also worked for an upholstery company and the Orange Crush Bottling Company.
"Bob's" family made the decision to move to Washington, DC, where he joined them at a later date. After arriving in Washington, DC, he began working as a Porter for Southern Railroad where he remained until he joined the Navy during World War II. After basic training in Great Lakes, IL, he served in Bainbridge, MD and Cecil field Air Station in Jacksonville and Miami, FL. He served bravely on the U.S. S. Coast, a destroyer, and U. S. S. Enterprise, an aircraft carrier. Dr. Morrow proudly received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy and shortly thereafter, became a professional boxer. It was during his boxing career that he met the son of one of the owners of Giant Food Company who introduced him to his father. The father hired Bob as a stock clerk in 1948, where he diligently worked his way up to the top as Executive Administrator. He spent two years attending Maryland University School of Business for Giant Food Company training in Marketing, Merchandising, and Management. He held the position of Executive Supervisor until his full retirement.
Dr. Morrow gave his life to Christ at an early age attending Shiloh Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC, pastored by Rev. J. T. Hairston. He was a member of the choir and usher board. When life led him to Washington, DC, he became a faithful member of Mt. Horeb Missionary Baptist Church. Later, he joined Beulah Baptist Church and eventually the First Baptist Church of Highland Park, MD where he served as Deacon a total of 30 years. It was there that God called him to a higher calling and ordered him to preach His gospel in the year 1962. He attended the school of Technology in 1970 and was ordained in 1977, and received his Doctor of Divinity from the Chapel of the Holy Light in St. Louis, MO.
Dr. Morrow has pastored three churches during his ministry: First Baptist Church of Washington, DC, Gaines Memorial Missionary Baptist of Maryland, and Oak Grove Missionary Church in China Grove, NC. He was also an Associate Minister of Wentworth Baptist Church in Wentworth, NC. He was a member of the National Baptist Convention U.S.A., the Rowan Association, Cedar Grove Association, the Reidsville Area Ministerial Alliance, and a member of the Chaplains group at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital. When there was a need for help in his community or anywhere else, he was always the first to reach out with a helping hand. God saw fit after many intervals of illnesses to guide Dr. Robert J. Morrow, Jr. up the golden path to glory.

Morrow (Beverly) of Chaptico, MD, Kevin Morrow (Cassandra) of Atlanta, GA and Cedric Morrow of Greensboro, NC; nieces, Bishop Alicia Perry of Washington, DC and Nneka Abdur-Rahman (Hassan Lateef) of Atlanta, GA; great-nephews; great-nieces; two special cousins, Ruby Russell of Greensboro, NC and Eloise King of Mebane, NC; two God-grandchildren, Kianna Brown and William Lee; and a host of other relatives, special friends, other Brothers and Sisters in Christ and all of his Ministerial family.
