Obituary

Mr. Robert Junia Lea transitioned from his earthly home on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at UNC-Rockingham Health and Rehabilitation in Eden, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 12 noon at McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.  Burial will be held following the service at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelham, NC.  Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the McLaurin Memorial Chapel.

Robert Junia Lea was born on August 27, 1934, in Milton, North Carolina, to the late Willie Mae Lea and was an only child.

He received his early education in the Caswell County Public School System through the 8 th grade.  Robert joined the Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully on the Deacon Board(Chairperson), Usher Board, Trustees, Sunday School, Male Chorus, Missionary Group #1 and Finance Committee until his health declined.   His employment included Cone Mills, Fieldcrest Mills, and American Tobacco Company and his favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing.

He married the love of his life, Nettie Abbott Lea in July, 1959.   This union lasted more than 60 years.  In addition to his mother and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Steve Moyer.

He leaves to cherish precious memories:  daughters, Laverne Lambeth (Larry), of Ruffin, NC, and Irva Moyer, of Eden, NC; son, Robert Stanley Lea (Geneva), of Ruffin, NC; grandchildren, Latasha Lambeth, Danielle Lambeth, Jeffery Moyer, Robert Christopher Lea and Demond Lea; great-grandchildren, Avery Lea, Eliam Lilgilgren and Serenity Lambeth Herbin; and a host other relatives and dear friends.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
