Life Reflections
Richard "Rick" Taylor Scarver was born April 23, 1958, son of Robert Haynes and Elijah and Susie Scarver Ross in Montgomery, Alabama. A host of angels escorted him into heaven on Monday, November 23, 2015 from Durham Veteran's Administration Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Jerusalem United Holy Church, Reidsville, NC with a visitation 2:30 P.M.-3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will take place 12:00 Noon, Monday, November 30, 2015 at the Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
Rick graduated from Robert E .Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama in 1976. Immediately following in the fall, he began his military career in Germany. He served his country faithfully for 30 years where he achieved the rank of Master Sargent. MSG Scarver instructed and mentored hundreds of soldiers of the 92nd Gulf. His last assignments was course manager of 92nd Gulf 2011-2012 and then Director of Instruction 2012-2013 at Camp Parks in Dublin, California for the 1st Brigade 94th Division 80th Training Command.
He accepted Christ at a young age at Newtown Church of Christ in Montgomery, Alabama. Later he joined St. Steven's Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama. He was a faithful member of the St. Steven's Stevenaire's musical group. After moving to Reidsville, North Carolina, he joined the membership of Assembly Faith Christian Ministries, where he served as a trustee.
On July 27th, 1985 he married the love of his life, his one, Twanjua Price Scarver. God so richly blessed their union with three distinguished young men, Darryl II, Devante, and Damarick.
Rick's memory will be cherished by many. His loving wife, Twanjua Price Scarver, his sons, Darryl Fernando Scarver II (Brittany) of Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, Alabama; DeVante Jerod Scarver (Mi'Osha) of Little Rock AFB, Jacksonville, Arkansas; Damarick LeTwan Scarver of Reidsville. His grandchild, Demarion Price Scarver, of Little Rock AFB, Jacksonville, Arkansas. His brothers, Isaac Haynes (Janice) of Eufaula, Alabama, Michael Scarver (Sheila) of Reidsville, North Carolina, Howard Scarver (Shirley) of Wagner, South Carolina, Darryl Scarver (Nina) of Crestview, Florida; sisters, Rosie Pearl Williams (Charles), Patricia Moore (Clarence), Valerie Fryer (Floyd), Roselyn Braswell (Michael) all of Montgomery, Alabama, Beverly Scott of Cranston, Rhode Island, and Barbara Shaw of Detroit, Michigan. Three uncles, Joseph McDaniel, James Felder (Dorothy) and Wilbert Felder of Montgomery, Alabama, one Aunt Mattie Mae Henderson, Los Angeles, CA. Father-in-law the late Kenneth Price, Mother-in-law, Esther Price, sisters-in-law, Tammy Price, Tina Courts (Jerome). Godfather, Larry Fuller; Godsister & brother, James & Danette Bailey; godchildren, Marvin Johnson, Nikkie Weeks, Lashae Robison, Tylee and Chancellor Wilson, Jamaiah Hairston, and Dionte Neal, and host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
