Raleigh, NC.- Richard David Clark, 74, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2012, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 29, 2012 at McLaurin Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, Reidsville, NC, with burial following in the Greenview Cemetery. There will be a visitation 1:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service.
Richard was born in Reidsville, NC to Dr. Albert H.Clark, Sr. and Richetta Vincent Clark. He was educated in the Reidsville public schools and graduated from Palmer Memorial Institute in Sedalia, N.C. He attended Lincoln University, and graduated from North Carolina College (NCCU). Richard also attended Paris-Sorbonne University Medical School in Paris, France, where he lived for several years.
Richard lived in Washington, DC for many memorable years where he co-owned many businesses, and worked as a toxicologist with the District of Columbia hospitals. Richard was a lover of science, history, art and music, and never tired of learning new things. He retired to Raleigh, N.C. in 2005 to be close to his nephews and nieces.
He leaves to morn his loss, his loving nieces, Lori Clark, Gina Clark Holt (John), and Renee Forrest; nephews, Anthony L. Clark McLaurin, Ashton T.D. Clark McLaurin, and Martin V. Clark, Jr. (Meron); great-nieces, Kelly Bonds (Scott), Sydney Holt, and Amani Clark; great-nephews, Casey Forrest, John Holt, III, and Miles Holt, loving friend and companion of 23 years, Julia Hudson, and numerous special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Albert Clark, Jr., and Martin Clark, Sr.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Neeraj Agrawal of Cancer Centers of NC for his superior treatment, encouragement and care, the staff of Compassion Health Services, especially Ms. Maria, and Frances for their compassion and care during his last months of life.
