REIDSVILLE - Reverend Dr. Thurman Lee Pinnix, Sr., age 92, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at his residence.
Public viewing will begin on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 1 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Reverend Pinnix will lie in repose on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Browns Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 461 Browns Chapel Road, Gibsonville, NC. The family visitation will take place at 12:30 p.m., followed by the homegoing celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Pastor Dr. Frankie T. Jones, Sr., eulogist.
The interment will follow in the Browns Chapel Church Cemetery.

Reverend Thurman L. Pinnix is one of fourteen children born to Mr. Eugene Washington Pinnix and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Thomas Pinnix of Caswell County. He received his former education from the public schools of Caswell County.
On November 10, 1974, Reverend Pinnix preached his initial sermon, and on that day, he was licensed to preach the gospel by Dr. H.G. McGhee. At the request of the Brown's Chapel membership, he was ordained by the Ordaining Council of the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Association of Yanceyville, North Carolina on April 1, 1976. Reverend Pinnix's first pastoral duties began in 1976 when he was selected as pastor of the Browns' Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
For many years he worked as a supervisor at Lorillard Tobacco Company in Greensboro, NC.
Reverend Thurman Lee Pinnix, Sr. was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his devoted wife, Hessie Harrison, and his cherished son, Thurman Pinnix, Jr.
He leaves behind a loving legacy, carried on by his daughter Barbara Pinnix Brown (Larry); brothers, Linwood Pinnix, Haskim Khateeb, and Vernon Pinnix; grandchildren, Jonell Brown (Trent), Tania Compton, Dominic Brown (Angenette), Jamie Blackwell (Crystal), Kimberly Pinnix, and Roselyn Pinnix Fulks (Joshua); his great-grandchildren Madison Brown and Trent "TJ" Brown; sister- in-laws, Arlene L. Pinnix and Neapelis H. Galloway, as well as a host of dear family members and
friends who will forever cherish his memory.
