Reginald
Parris
Jun 14, 1953 — Feb 23, 2019
Reginald "Reggie" Warren Parris, 65, transitioned to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 401 Hubbard Street, Reidsville, NC with family visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. and service at 12 noon on Saturday, March 2, 2019.
"Reggie" was born on June 14, 1953 in Eden, North Carolina to the late George and Valeria (Thompson) Parris. He graduated from Morehead High School in 1971 where he served as captain of the basketball team. Although he was a multi-sport player, basketball was his love. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam era. Reggie was a Master Mason for more than 30 years and an active member of Lone Star Lodge, No. 33, PHA. He enjoyed the fellowship with his brothers and participated in the many fundraising and community service efforts of the Masonic Lodge.
One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC. He could be seen seated on "Deacon's Row" every Sunday, dressed fashionably while praising his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Reggie is a retiree of Commonwealth Brands, Inc., formerly known as American Tobacco Company, and most recently worked as a driver for the RCATS/ADTS following retirement. He was an avid sports fanatic and loved all sports. He never met a stranger and although he was known for his "no-nonsense attitude", he was sure to leave a smile on your face. He was the true definition of a protector and provider as he was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
Reggie is resting in the arms of Jesus, with his father, mother, and sister, Juanita (Parris) Galloway.
Reggie is watching over his beloved wife, Portia of 38 years; daughters, Tomeka Parris, Pia Parris and Caryh Parris; honorary daughter, Julandra Broadnax; brothers, Jose (Dorothy) Parris, Darryl Parris and Jeffrey Parris; two grandchildren, Khadejah Parris and Khalil McKiver; nieces; nephews; and extended family members. McLaurin Funeral Home is serving the family during their time of bereavement.
"Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity". Psalms 133:1
