GIBSONVILLE - Mr. RD Graves, age 86, transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 following a brief illness at Gibson House Ancora Compassionate Care in Reidsville, NC.

DUE TO EXPECTED INCLEMENT WEATHER SERVICES ARE RESCHEDULED AS FOLLOWS:

Public viewing will begin on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 2 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. from the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 246 Benton Road, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will take place at 1 p.m., with Pastor Thomas Long, eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in the St. James Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

Born on April 25, 1938, in Rockingham County, NC, RD was the beloved son of the late William Graves and Elnora Nash.

A man of quiet strength and humility, RD spent most of his life as a dedicated farmer. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, often enjoying a game of dominos with friends. He was especially fond of a cold Pepsi or Coke, and if peanuts were included, that made it all the better. Above all, he had a profound love for God and his family.

RD was a devoted member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon on the board. His commitment to his faith and his community was unwavering, and his kindness and generosity touched the lives of many. In addition to his service to the church, RD was a loving caregiver to his nephews, Lonza and Elbert Graves, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and other siblings.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his six sisters: Dorothy Southern, Richetta Perkins, Lena Graves, Mae Long, Sarah Wright, and Geneva Long (Pastor Thomas Long). He also leaves behind a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

RD Graves' life was a testament to faith, love, and dedication. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit and legacy will remain with us forever.
