REIDSVILLE - Preston Laray Graves, 69, of Reidsville, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at his residence.
Public viewing will begin on Friday, July 4, 2025 from 12 until 3 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 12 p.m. from the Smyrna Church of Christ, 1025 Mizpah Church Road, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will take place at 11:30 a.m. Elder Clarence Robertson will officiate and Bishop Thomas Fowler, pastor & eulogist.
The interment with military honors provided by the US Army Honor Guard will follow in the Smyrna Church Cemetery, 1598 Mizpah Church Road, Reidsville, NC.
All other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 8099 Friendship Church Road, Reidsville, NC.
He was born on June 26, 1955, in Alexandria, VA, to the late Preston and Ivadell Graves.
Preston was a proud alumnus of Reidsville Senior High School. After high school, he found his calling in service to his country in the United States Army. While in the Army, he received his GED and basic training at Fort Jackson, SC. He furthered his training as an AIT at Fort Bliss, Texas, and served in Korea for a year. Upon his return to the United States, he furthered his education at Virginia State University, majoring in Business Administration.
His professional life was spent in building construction, where he worked for 32 years and lent his skill and dedication to the construction of the new Smyrna Church Building and renovations for the Smyrna Adult and Youth Learning Center. Preston was also a respected operator of a Dump Truck for 16 years.
Among his many passions, Preston found joy in playing the guitar and fostering connections with people. His kindness and affinity for others were returned with love and respect from those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Preston was preceded in death by his father, Preston Graves, his mother, Ivadell Graves, his brother Eddie Graves, and his sister Norma Ashton.
Those left to Cherish Memories of Preston are: his loving siblings: Sherri Fowler (Thomas Lewis), Gary Graves, Tony Graves, Aaron Graves, Laura Graves, Kevin Graves (Shavonn), and Quan Graves, along with a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
