Ms. Peggy Davis Reed of Reidsville, North Carolina transitioned this life on May 21, 2018 to leave the cares or this world behind and to be united with her heavenly Father.
She was born on May 8th to the late Joseph Reed Sr. ad Australia Williamson Reed of Reidsville, NC. She attended school at Booker T. Washington High School. Formal education acquired at Winston Salem State University and Rockingham Community College where she earned Associate degree I Nursing. She was married for many years and had two sons. Ms. Reed spent most of her adult life nursing and ministering in service to others. She retired from Beverly Healthcare Nursing Facility in Tarboro, NC and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, spreading love, laughter and blessings wherever she was. She accomplished much as she walked this life, touching many souls and witnessing for Christ. Peggy was a member of Jerusalem United Church in her early life and later became a devoted member of Praise the Lord New Life Gospel Church in Tarboro, NC where she sung, praised and supported.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Reed Sr., sister, Susan Elaine Reed and brother, Carl Vernon Reed.
She is held in loving memory by her devoted children, Elder Steven Ray McCain (Kyndra D. McCain) of Greensboro, NC and Clinton Reed McCain (Candice W. McCain) of Charlotte, NC. Also, to cherish her memory is her mother, Mrs. Australia Williamson Reed of Reidsville, grandchildren, Jedidiah McCain, Malachi McCain, Nathanael McCain, Brianna Thompson, Sanai McCain, Christian McCain and Kaleb Dowd. In addition, her sisters, Barbara Reed Ashe (James Lee Ashe), Evelyn A. Reed and Sandra Reed Coley, all of Reidsville, one brother, Minister Joseph I. Reed, Jr. (Portia P. Reed) Winston Salem, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services will be held at Cornerstone Christian Center, 516 N. Scales Street, Reidsville, NC on May 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Family will meet at 1401 Walnut Street, Reidsville, NC, home of Evelyn Reed.
