Obituary

REIDSVILLE - Mr. Paul Henry Carter, age 83, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025 at Annie Penn Hospital.

Public viewing will begin on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 12 until 6 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. from the Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 179 Jones Chapel Road, Reidsville, North Carolina. The family visitation will take place at 2 p.m. Pastor Perry Webster will preside and Pastor Gregory Perkins, eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in the family plot of Greenview Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

All other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 123 Sunflower Road, Reidsville, NC.

Paul Henry Carter was born on September 12, 1942, in Madison, NC, to the late Benny and Leola Carter. He departed this life on September 29, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends.

Paul was well-known for his athletic talent. In high school, he was a standout basketball player, and later he played softball with the Black Explosion team, where he earned many accomplishments, including the title of 1976 Batting Champion. A true sports enthusiast, he was also an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers.

In 1969, Paul began his career at The American Tobacco Company, where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 1996. He was also a devoted member of Little Bethlehem Church in Stoneville.

In 1966, Paul married his devoted wife, Betty Carter. From this union, three children were born. Together, Paul and Betty shared 58 wonderful years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Leola Carter; his sister, Bessie Simpson; and his brother, Charles Carter.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Carter; his sons, Paul Anthony Carter and Christopher Carter; his daughter, Chasity Carter (Will); granddaughters, Aaliyah Carter and Kierra Scales; grandson, Keion Carter; great grandchildren, Kaiden Carter and Maliyah Millner; nephews, Larry Simpson (Patsy), Calvin Simpson (Jackie),Tim Simpson, and Derwood Simpson (Wendy); great-nephew, Darnell Simpson (Chandler); great-niece, Ashley Best (Aaron); god-daughter, Sonya Gwynn (Tony); god-son, Landon Cobb (Charity); and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Paul will be remembered for his love of sports, his devotion to his family, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
