On Thursday evening, June 13, 2024, Overseer Jesse Willard Cobb was escorted by angels from this earthly realm to his heavenly home where he will ever be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There he was welcomed by his loving wife Jessie B. Cobb, his brothers, Thomas L. Cobb,
James A. Cobb, Jr., Elbert Cobb, and Howard L. Cobb.
On July 18, 1936, Jesse Willard Cobb was born in Rockingham County to the late James Arthur Cobb and Nettie H. Johnson Cobb.
He was educated in Rockingham County public school system until illness required him to leave at an early age. He later returned to school to complete his education and receive his diploma.
Jesse was employed as a sweeper at Lorillard Tobacco Company, Greensboro, NC. He was one of the first black men to complete the GTCC pipefitters program to advance in his career. As a devoted employee, he later retired after 42 years.
At an early age, Jesse surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and joined membership with Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. There he diligently served as President of the Senior Choir, Adult Sunday School teacher and Chairman of the Deacon Board/Trustee.
On November 25, 1961, Overseer Jesse W. Cobb was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Pastor Jessie B. Cobb. They enjoyed a beautiful and rewarding marriage of more than 48 years until she transitioned to heaven in July 2010. From their union three children were born, Wanda G. Kellum, Linda LaTonia Cobb and Jaron W. Cobb. He dearly cherished his "Jackie," children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
As well as building a family together, Overseer Jesse and Pastor Jessie Cobb built a thriving business together. Cobb's Family Care and Pine Forrest Home operated for many years until they heard that it was time to focus all their attention on the church. They founded Assembly Faith Christian Ministries 37 years ago. The church began in the basement of their home, was later moved to 801 Walters Street, and is currently located at 605 Montgomery Street, Reidsville, NC. With a heart for the future generations, they also founded The Increase Learning Center. Until his transition, Jesse served as the Overseer, Spiritual Father, teacher, and a true example of God's love toward all.
As a true leader and man of great wisdom, Overseer Cobb did everything possible to advance himself, family, and church members. He graduated from Maranatha Bible College, Danville, Va.
A loving uncle, cousin, brother, and friend, he received immense joy from sharing his love of Christ. Overseer Cobb enjoyed making people laugh and receiving food from great cooks who enjoyed feeding him. He will ever be remembered for his generosity and the abundance of love that radiated just from his demeanor. To be in his presence was a true joy.
Many loved ones remain to celebrate and rejoice in his radiant life! Cherishing his memory, his loving children Wanda G. Kellum (Jesse), Pastor Linda Latonia Cobb and Jaron W. Cobb (Rebecca) of the home; brother, C. Bernard Cobb (Dotsie), Reidsville, NC; sister in grace, Carolyn Blackstock, Washington, D.C.; grandchildren: Jessica K. Warren (Isaiah); Jarron W. Cobb (Sierra), both of Reidsville; Jesse Kellum IV, Colorado Springs, CO.; Kevin C. Cobb and Lauryn L. Cobb (both of the home); great-grandchildren, Jarron A. Cobb, and Jordan M.
