Obituary

Mrs. Ollie S. Madkins transitioned from her earthly home on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital in  Greensboro, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, North Carolina.  Burial will follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Montgomery Street, Reidsville, North Carolina.  Public viewing will be held at the McLaurin Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Ollie Mae Stacey Madkins was born in Rockingham County on October 21, 1937 to the late Robertia Stacey and the late Watt Stacey. Ollie attended school in the the Rockingham County School System and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1955.  She married the late Elie Madkins and they were blessed with six children.

She was employed at Zarn Industries for 30 years and later attended Rockingham Community College, proudly earning a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate.

Ollie was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.  But, more importantly, she loved the Lord and served Him diligently with all of her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Larry Bernard Stacey and Michael Madkins; sister, Mattie Stacey; and brother, Samuel Stacey.

Those left to cherish precious memories are:  daughter, Debra "Anita" Madkins Winchester (Rev. Burnett), of Reidsville, NC; sons, Mitchell "Mumbo" Madkins, Steve Madkins and Jerome Madkins (Amy), all of Reidsville, NC; sister, Carrie Jackson, of Reidsville, NC; aunts, Hulene Totten and Shirley Blackwell, both of Reidsville, NC; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; special friends, Carolyn Williams and Richard Cobb; cousins; nieces; nephews; in-laws; other relatives and dear friends.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
