Minister Doris J. Wilson

GREENSBORO, NC - Minister Doris Jean Wilson, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026 at her residence.

She was born on December 19, 1950 to the late Haywood George Wilson and the late Emma Beatrice Whitt Herbin, who recently passed away on August 26th.

*** Arrangements are now scheduled and will be conducted with her mother's service (Mrs. Emma B. Herbin) ***

A viewing will begin on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 12 until 6 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. Masonic rites performed by the Five Point Chapter #510, O.E.S. (PHA) will take place at 5:30 p.m.

A combined funeral service will be held Friday, September 4, 2026 from the Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, 600 McWalker Road, Reidsville, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the service at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Melvin McLean, Jr., will officiate and Bishop Benjamin Mittman will serve as eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in the Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

All other times, the family will receive friends at the residence - 1006 S. Benbow Street, Greensboro, NC.

Mrs. Doris Jean Wilson, was born December 19, 1950 in Fairfax County, Virginia to the late Haywood George Wilson and the late Emma Beatrice Whitt Herbin. She departed on August 28, 2026 at her residence.

Doris was a faithful member and Associate Minister of East White Oak Missionary Baptist Church of Greensboro, NC.

She retired as a Telemetry Clerk from Kindred Hospital of Greensboro, NC.

Doris was a dutiful, compassionate, loving and God-fearing woman who loved crafts, gardening, church and philanthropy. She was especially known for ministering, creating something out of nothing, nurturing her beautiful house plants and helping her children and community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Octavius O. Wilson; siblings: Karl Wilson, Debra Wilson, Donna Neal, and a baby brother that passed in childbirth.

Doris left behind her husband, Harold Royster; her daughter, Bontrevia L. Wilson; her grandchildren: Shaquana L. Wilson, Laurin Watkins, Quinyan Wilson-Barr, Alexander Allman; great-grandchildren: Dominic Watkins and Asa Wilson-Barr. And a host of other relatives and friends that she held close and dear.
