EDEN, NC - Mr. Mikel Anthony Mebane, age 62, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 2 p.m. from the Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church in Pelham, North Carolina. The viewing will begin at 1 p.m., and the family will arrive at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Hamid Kamara will officiate and Keith Greene will deliver the words of comfort.
The committal and interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Progressive Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruffin, North Carolina.
All other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his brother, Eddie Mebane (Penda), 110 Buchannan Street, Eden, NC.
Mikel Anthony Mebane, 62, of Rockingham County, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1963 in Greensboro, NC to Mary Carter and the late Joe Carter.
Mikel was a longtime resident of Guilford County before relocating to Rockingham County, where he resided with his mother in his later years. He was a proud graduate of Grimsley High School, where he excelled in basketball and was known for his athletic talent.
Throughout his life, Mikel was cherished for his kindness, generosity, dedication and wonderful sense of humor. He was a father figure to many, offering guidance and support with an open heart. For over twenty years, Mikel was the dedicated business owner of "Mebane Hand of Excellence." He was also employed at Amcor in Reidsville until his health declined.
Mikel was called home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2026. Though his family and friends were not ready to say goodbye, Mikel found peace in his final moments, stating, "I'm tired and ready to go home." A man of faith, Mikel knew the Lord and his spirit will continue to live on in the hears of those he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Trinese Mebane; his children, Mikel Mills (Jacqueline), Anton Mills, Marque Mills, Sheila Curtis (Derrick Curtis), David Mebane and Candace Mebane.
Mikel also leave behind his mother, Mary Carter; siblings, Sheila Mebane, Eddie Mebane (Penda), Rick Mebane (Angela), Annette McMaster, Theresa Jennings, Laverne Pette (Dwight), Teresa Stanley, Cynthis Blackwell, Floyd Blackwell (Nikki), Fred Blackwell (Tiffany), Wendy Blackwell, Wanda Blackwell and Stormy Hinsaw (Clyde).
His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: A'more Mills, Markese Mills, Makayla Mills, Zykel Mills, Mason Mills, Kavalon Mills, Miracle Mills, Kiyahna Mills, Jordyn Mills, Jizelle Mills, Asani Mills, Christopher Curtis, Christina Curtis, Michael Curtis, Elizabeth Curtis, Ayden Taylor-Mebane and Kacen Mebane. He is also survied by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
