Michael Wayne Galloway was the fifth child born to the late Deacon Samuel Galloway and Mother Nettie Napper Galloway on May 7, 1957. He quietly slipped away from us to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his home.
Mike grew up in the country back then called "Nubin Ridge", now known as Reidsville. He attended the Rockingham Co School System and graduated from Rockingham High School.
Mike was well known in the community as a "Helper". Anything he could do to help, he would. He knew a lot of trades from working closely with his father, Deacon Galloway. He was a worker in the fields with tobacco, a farmer with animals and gardens, a collector of chewing gum, snacks, drinks, money and much more.
Michael, affectionally known as "Mike Mike", was a joy to be around. He was the family's #1 babysitter. All the children loved "Mike Mike" and Mike loved the children. His two favorites were (Pooh Bear) Mya Fountain and Jamari Logan, who was his change counting partner. He never failed to check on others to see how they were doing. Though he was a quiet person, he never met a stranger.
He was a member of St. Mariah United Holy Church in Reidsville, North Carolina under the leadership of Mother Lettie P. Cohen. He accepted Jesus Christ into his life at an early age and reaffirmed his salvation later in life under the leadership of Bishop Harry Cohen and Elder Linda Cohen.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Deacon Samuel Galloway; one sister, Diane G. Turner; and two brothers, Samuel E. Galloway and Donnie Galloway.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his mother, Mother Nettie Galloway; two sisters, Brenda Fountain (Monroe), and Vicki Galloway, all of Reidsville, NC; one brother, Carl Galloway, of Reidsville, NC; two nieces, Latelia Fountain and Kimberly Fountain-Pickard; three nephews, Jeff Fountain (Rachel), Barry Turner (Carla), and Chad Galloway; and a host of great nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
