REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Maxine Thomas, age 75, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at her residence.

Public viewing will begin on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 1 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Maxine was born on February 17, 1949 to the late Willie Martin and Helen Kaylor.

She received her education from the Rockingham County Public Schools and graduated in 1967 from Booker T. Washington High School.

Maxine was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a heart of gold and she shared it with everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and being a caregiver to many. She worked as a nurse aide for more than 45 years and retired in 2020 from Aging, Disability and Transit Services.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Thomas, Sr.; sister, Billie Jean Jackson; grand-daughter, Marquita Simmons; nephew, Troy Jackson.

She left to cherish her memory, daughter, Michell Johnson (Sean) of the home; son, Joe Thomas, Jr. (Diane); stepdaughter, Renee Marshall; stepson, Rodney Martin; sister, Mary K. Patterson; aunt, Betty Mills (James); grandchildren, Jazmaine Johnson, Dashaun Dalton, Brittney Johnson, Kameron Johnson, Shonta Battle, Ashley Cook, Keion Carter, Caelyn Thomas and Malachi Price; great-granddaughter, Layla Lucas; special nieces, Norma McDonald and Katia Kaylor; special nephew, Jerry Kaylor; special friends, Joan Slade, Sandra Carter, Sabrina Roach and Gloria Lee; a host of additional family and friends.
