Reidsville- Mrs. Mattie Virginia Mims Adams, 88, of Reidsville, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 14, 2016.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Hubbard St., Reidsville, N.C. with a visitation 10:30-11:00 A.M. prior to the service and burial to take place in Greenview Cemetery.

A native of Caswell County, NC, she was one of twelve children of the late Johnnie Mims and Mary Badgett Mims, born September 11, 1927.
After graduating from the Caswell County School System, she moved to Reidsville, NC to start her employment. She worked a variety of jobs like JC Penney, Burlington Industries and finally retired from Creighton Shirt Factory at age 62 to take care of her grand-daughter, after the loss of Kenya's mother, Rita. Mattie's faith and trust was in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. First Baptist of Reidsville on Hubbard Street has been her church home for many years. Before her dementia and strokes affected her health, she loved to sew, garden, cook, work puzzles and visit with family and friends. Mattie was known to be outspoken, honest, and willing to do anything she could for anyone.

Mattie is survived by two sons, Armenous Adams (Shelia) of Reidsville, NC, Karranzia Adams of Greensboro, NC; three grand-daughters, Kenya Johnson (Thomas) of Reidsville, Starr Massey (Justin) of Greensboro, and Diane Stitt (Elihue) of Charlotte, NC; three great-grandchildren, Imani and Amber Johnson, and Adam Massey; two sisters, Wylean Pinnix of Ruffin, NC and Roxanne Richardson of Reidsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, June Adams; son, William Henry Mims; daughter, Rita Adams Broadnax, and nine brothers and sisters.
