With every birth, God creates a unique individual. Mary Alice Jordan was born on November 4, 1930, to the late Willie and Nora Jordan of Brown Summit, NC. She was one of six children.
Mary Alice graduated from Browns Summit High School in Guilford County. She was blessed with two daughters, Clamensia and Norma Jean. In pursuit of a better life for her children, she briefly moved to Detroit before returning home to Browns Summit. She worked as a seamstress for Bates Nightwear for many years and later joined Guilford County Schools, where she retired.
Mary Alice had a passion for gardening, sewing, and cooking, and she adored her beloved dog, Coco. Many were fortunate to enjoy fresh vegetables from her garden and perhaps even a slice of one of her famous German chocolate cakes.
A devoted woman of faith, Mary Alice loved her Lord and Savior. She was a dedicated member of Jackson United Methodist Church, where she actively served in the choir, United Women of Faith, the Kitchen Committee, the Trustee Board, and the Finance Committee.
Whether through family, church, or work, Mary Alice leaves behind a profound and cherished legacy. We are grateful for the time God allowed us to share with her. Though small in stature, she was undoubtedly an independent, hardworking, and determined woman of God.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Nora Jordan; her sisters, Inez Wilson (Curtis) and Rosa Foust (Joe); and her brothers, John Jordan, Leroy Jordan, and James Jordan.
She leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren: Tonya Harden of Greensboro, NC; Jonathan Harden of Reidsville, NC; Christy Jackson (Tyrone) of Greensboro, NC; and Kevin Moore (Cyndee) of Jamestown, NC. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Christopher Green, Tyrone Jackson Jr., Diamond Jackson, Tyree Jackson and Theisyn Blake Harden, all of Greensboro, NC. Additionally, she leaves behind two great-great-grandchildren, Lenox Jackson and Legend Jackson, as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends.
