Obituary

Mrs. Mary Jane Neal Bridges was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late Joseph and Mary Sue Harrison Neal on July 17, 1927. She fell asleep in death on December 10, 2013.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Satruday, December 14, 2013 at McLaurin Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with a visitation 12:30-1:00 P.M. and burial to follow in the Greenview Cemetery.

Mary dedicated her life and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed sharing the good news of God's kingdom with others. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3: 5&6.

5:Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and do not lean upon your own understanding. 6: In all your ways take notice of him, and he himself will make your paths straight.

She will always be remembered as a hard worker, a very creative and artistic person, a good cook, a caring and very giving, family oriented mother. She was also known for her strong strength of character, and most of all for her warm and beautiful smile.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Major Bridges), two sisters (Helen Hooper and Lue Ella Mitchell), and four brothers (Gaither, Joe, James and William Neal).

Mary is survived by four daughters: Ida Pickard (Jimmie), Wanda Knight (Julius), Edna Kelly (William) and Linda Bullock; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; one sister Nettie Hayes, one brother, Robert P. Neal; Sisters-in-law, Mamie Neal, Clocelton Blackwell (Marshall), Christine Porter, Lois Cobb, Shirley Herbin, Rosa Bell Wilson; friend and caregiver, Elizabeth Clay, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving and supportive friends.
