Mrs. Mary Louise Helem Blackwell, lovingly known as "Mama Louise", entered this world on May 12, 1928 in Rockingham County, North Carolina. She passed on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell County.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. Thurman L. Pinnix Sr. bringing the eulogy. There will be a visitation 12:30-1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Louise was the daughter of the late Robert Samuel Helem and Elizabeth King Helem. She was married to the late Jeff Wilberton Blackwell.
Louise was a devoted member of Brown's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess. In her earlier years she served as the church photographer, documenting the many glorious occasions. She was also well known for her "icy" lemonade, which was often requested at social gatherings. Louise was always willing to help others.

Helem (Bridgett), Huntsville, Alabama, two stepson's; Cleo Blackwell (Cora), Reidsville, North Carolina, Melvin Blackwell (Edith) Reidsville, North Carolina, three stepdaughters; Vernell Simpson (Roy), Reidsville, North Carolina, Linda Murray (Bobby) Reidsville, North Carolina, Matokia Jones (Barry), Durham, North Carolina, nephew; Charles C. Brown Jr., Gibsonville, North Carolina, dear friend; John Graves and many other relatives and friends.
