Mrs. Martha Motley Perkins transitioned from her earthly home on Thursday May 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery, Montgomery Street, Reidsville, NC. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel.
Martha M. Motley Perkins was born to the late Betty Lawson and Maurice Motley on February 15, 1933 in Reidsville, North Carolina. "Brownie", as she was affectionately called, attended school in the Reidsville Public School System (Branch Street Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School). She continued her education at Rockingham Community College, receiving her Nursing Assistant Certification.
Employed as a Nursing Assistant at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years, she retired in 1998. Sewing, cooking and gardening were just a few of her hobbies and she had a special love for her four-legged friends.
In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by her step-father, James Lawson.
Those left to cherish precious memories are: her son, Luther William Perkins, Jr., of Reidsville, NC; granddaughters, Monique Perkins, of Atlanta, GA, Tomico Evans (Chris), of Charlotte, NC; and Yolanda Totten (Adrian), of Greensboro, NC; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Ogunyemi, of Greensboro NC, and Christiaan Evans and Caden Evans, both of Charlotte, NC; "doggie daughter", Wendy Perkins; special friend, Dorean M. "Puddin" Mims; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
