REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Margaret Cornelia Thornton Whitt, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Public viewing will begin on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc., 600 McWalker Road, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Pastor, Reverend Melvin T. McLean Jr., eulogist.
The committal and interment will follow in the Benaja Church Cemetery.

Margaret was born on February 7, 1933 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Jim Thornton and the late Carrie Bell Adams Thornton Williams Pass.
She attended the public schools of Rockingham County. She later met and and married Walter Sylvester Whitt in 1953.
She was a member of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church until 1978 when she started attending Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God. She later joined and was a vibrant and active member until her health declined.
Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved to cook for her husband and children. She also enjoyed watching baseball and westerns.
She worked at Cone Mills White Oak Plant for over 20 years.
Margaret was the last surviving sibling of 14 children. She was preceded in death two children, Sandra Whitt Aiken and David Lamont Whitt; 3 great-granchildren, Ashanti Nikol Davis Whitt; Ma'Hagnie Renee' Lea and LaGrier Ella Bella Lea; son in-law Marshall Rucker.
Although her physical presence is no longer with us, she will always live on in our hearts and memories.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her husband, Walter Sylvester Whitt of the home; children, Mary Elizabeth Stokes of Greensboro, NC, Carolyn Bolden, Gary Sylvester Whitt, Sharon Whitt Rucker, Sylvia Lynette Whitt (Maurice) and Melvin Keith Whitt all of Reidsville, NC, and Toni Whitt Thomas (Barry) of Caswell County, NC; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great granchildren; special friend, Jennie Herbin; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
