Obituary

REIDSVILLE - Mr. Manuel Lafayette Fountain, age 42, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Annie Penn Hospital.

Public viewing will begin on Friday, June 6, 2025 from 12 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 1 p.m. from the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6038 Park Springs Road, Pelham, NC. The family visitation will take place at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Gregory L. Hopkins and Dr. Joan Tatum will preside and Elder Garry Fountain, eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in New Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

Manuel Lafayette Fountain was born on October 7, 1982 in Rockingham County, NC to Jerry Lee Harden Sr. and Margaretta Fountain.

Manuel was a native of Rockingham County and a resident of Reidsville NC. Manuel, affectionately known as "Pete", attended Reidsville Senior High School (The Home of the Rams) Class of 2001. This is where he met the love of his life in band class (RaShannon). While attending high school, he was a member of the marching band, concert band, and all county band. Also, he played football and wrestled.

In 1993, Manuel gave his life to Christ in Reidsville NC at M and L Memorial Faith Tabernacle. Upon completing high school Pete left Reidsville to attend Concord University in West Virginia. In the years to come Pete held several jobs in various locations. He was a car salesman, worked at Texas Pete in Winston Salem, Good Year, and Lincoln Financial. Because of his true love for mankind and his gentle nature, he was respected and loved by everyone. Pete was never lost for words, if you got on the right subject he would either debate with you or talk for hours. Pete loved to fish, cook, play music, mentor and challenged young people to go to college and do their best. Pete was a family man who loved his wife of 7 years and his twins Uriah and Uziah.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 7 years RaShannon and sons Uriah and Uziah Fountain of the home. His mother Margaretta Fountain and father Jerry Lee Harden Sr of Reidsville, NC. One brother, Jerry Lee Harden Jr. (Tasha) of Reidsville, NC. His loving grandmother Mrs. Sarah Wright of Reidsville, NC. Aunts Brenda Keesee of Corona, California, Min. Annissa Wright of Reidsville, NC, Edna Hariston of Burlington,NC, and Gloria McLaughton of Danville, VA. Uncles Michael Fountain of Reidsville NC, Allen Fountain of Reidsville NC, Elder Garry Fountain (Gegirtha) of Reidsville, NC, John Fountain of Reidsville, NC, and Anderson Wright (Gwen) of Reidsville, NC. A Father and Mother in Law Rev. Gregory Hopkins (Tammie Hopkins). A sister-in-law RaShonna Graves (Mychael) of Yanceyville, NC. Nieces Talea, Jessica, Jayla, Tamila, and Tamycah. Nephews Makai, Mychael Jr., and Eli. A special cousin Kiarra Leonard. Also, he leaves behind friends who were dear to his heart Kent Singletary, Geoffrey Callands, Eric Callands, Marcus Flemming, Marcus Slade, Jason Greene, Christopher Hendricks, Tomika Flemming, and Diane Stitt. A host of family and friends as well as the class of 2001.
