Reidsville- Mrs. Mamie Vernell Wray Neal was born April 20, 1933 in Guilford County.
She was born to the late Missouri Foust Wray and John Wray.
Funeral Services will be 1:30 P.M. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Locust Grove Baptist Church, Brown Summit, NC with a visitation from 12:30 P.M.-1:30 P.M. prior to the service and burial to follow in the Locust Grove Church Cemetery.
Mamie attended school in Brown Summit, NC and graduated from the Brown Summit High School. She worked many years at Burlington Industries, Inc. and was a care giver for over 20 years.
Mamie joined Locust Grove Baptist Church many years ago, under the leadership of Rev. Sandy S. Gilmer. She was a faithful and dedicated member who served on the Sr. Usher Board, president of the Gospel Choir, member of the First Aide and the Pastors Aide Committee. "Miss Mamie" as she was affectionately known, was loved by many and left a memorable impression on all she encountered.
She was married to the late James Ellis Neal, Sr. and to this union they were blessed with 8 children. Along with her husband she was preceded in death by son; Leo E. Neal Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories 7 children; Melvin Neal (Shirley), Leon Neal (Darlene), Dennis Neal (April), Vanessa Jones (Robert), Carolyn Robertson (Robert) all of Reidsville, NC, Kay Neal, High Point, NC and Patricia Youse also of Reidsville, NC, special brothers; John Wray and Maurice Wray, Greensboro, NC, daughter in-law; Marilynn Neal, Reidsville, NC, 19 Grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren, special friends; Mary Simmons, Darlene Wray, Gladys Johnson, Sally Ruth Jefferies, Margaret McConnell and Lucille Motley, a host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends
Public viewing will be Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
