Mr. Loyd Edward Hairston, 71, surrounded by his loving family, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Born on October 24, 1943 to the late Wesley and Nannie Adams Hairston, he was the eldest son born of their prolific union of ten children.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are five sisters: Bernice Jackson of Reidsville, NC, Mabone Jackson, Faye Hairston and Arnettie Hairston all of Eden, NC and Betty (Phillip) Adams of Danville, VA. Three brothers: Levant (Lucy) Hairston of Pelham, NC, Donald Hairston and Kern Hairston of Raleigh, NC. Three nieces: Vickie (Stuart) Lovelace of Danville, VA and their children Trenton, Trevor and Makenzie; LaVae Hairston of Eden, NC; LeVette (Cornell) Chasten and their daughter Ava of Silver Spring, MD; three nephews: Brian Hairston of Pelham, NC, Jeffrey (Letta) Jackson of Romulus, MI and their children James, Larry, and Tamia; and Stanton (Tamika Shirley) Adams of Chesapeake, VA and their children Aaron, Alfred and Kaden; two brothers Gordon Daniel and Ronald Keith Hairston, one niece Veleatta Adams and two nephews James Pass and Bennie Jackson; one brother-in-law Rev. Clarence Jackson all predeceased her. A plethora of other family, friends and relations remain.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm with viewing and visitation at 12:00 noon prior to the start of service on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 13602 Martinsville Hwy, Cascade, VA.
