Obituary

Mrs. Louise Hester Bolden King went home to rest with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 2, 2023 in Reidsville, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Elm Grove Baptist Church, U.S. 29 Business, Reidsville, NC with family visitation one half hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Church Cemetery.  Public visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

She was born April 30, 1930 to the late Samuel Franklin Bolden and Addie Jo Simpson Bolden.  She was the youngest of 14 children.  She attended the public schools in Rockingham County and attended Booker T. Washington High School.

She accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age at Elm Grove Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member.  Mrs. King held many positions in her church serving as Assistant Recording Secretary and the Pastors' Aide, as well as a member of the Senior Missionaries.  She also faithfully attended Sunday school until her health declined and was crowned Reidsville NAACP's "Mother of the Year" in 2012 representing Elm Grove.

She worked various jobs from domestic work, industrial work to service worker, to homemaker.  She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening.

Mrs. King is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, the late John L. King, Sr. as well as all of her siblings.

Those celebrating the wonderful memories are:  her daughter, Theresa Bolden Kennedy of the home; her son, John L. King, Jr. (Patricia) of Greensboro, NC; two granddaughters, Vanessa La Verne Kennedy of the home and Angela Rene Kennedy-Wilson (Larry) of Harper Woods, MI; three grandsons, Damon King (Sarah) of Anderson, IN, Nicholas King (Brandy) of Greensboro, NC, and Ryan King of Cornelius, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Phoenix King and Genesis King of Anderson, IN; Mariah Haynes (Jared) of Anderson, IN, Dominique Wilson of Southfield, MI, Ava King, Layla King and Noah King all of Greensboro, NC; and a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family.  Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
