Lou Della Mills Williams, known to her friends as "Della", departed this life on January 6, 2019 at the age of 99 years old.  When she heard the voice of her Saviour say, "Come home and take your rest," she answered His call, and God whispered, well done my good and faithful servant."  She received her wings and began her journey to meet her Lord and Saviour.  To God be the Glory!

Lou Della Mills Williams was born in Rockingham County on February 7, 1919 to the late John and Jennie Sue Mills.  She was married to the late Willie Zack Williams and of this union, five children were born.

"Mother Lou Della" was a devoted and faithful member of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church for many, many years.  She loved her church family and served in many capacities until her health began to decline.

Lou Della was a certified nursing assistant and did private duty nursing for many years.  She retired from Maplewood Nursing Home after ten years of service, but continued to serve throughout the community and beyond, giving and sharing without expectation and working toward instilling those values in her family and everyone whose life she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons – Rev. James Willie Williams and John Lee Williams, one brother – Rev. Walter E. Mills, seven sisters – Minnie Blackstock, Mable Blackstock, Sadie Brown, Cora Mills, Daisy Chestnut, Bessie Bass and Nannie Bell Palmer.

She leaves to cherish precious memories – one daughter – Shirley Williams Coates (John), of Fayetteville, NC; two sons – Thomas Williams, of Pelham, NC, and Rev. Howard Williams (Carla), of Beaufort SC; daughter-in-law – Mattie Williams, of California; sixteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a plethora of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Special thanks to all who took time over the years who came by or called to check on our Mom.  Your efforts and consideration are deeply appreciated.  Special acknowledgements to niece, Vanessa Brown of Richmond, VA who called every Sunday for many years to speak to her Aunt Della, who asked diligently "did Vanessa call yet?, which always warmed her heart.
