Obituary

Mrs. Lottie Graves Thomas passed away  Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Smyrna Holiness Church of God with a visitation 1:30 P.M. prior to the service.  Burial will follow in High Rock Grove Church Cemetery.

Lottie Graves Thomas, daughter of the late Preston Graves and Sendie Graves Moore, was born on December 4, 1931. Following a period of illness, she departed her earthly life on Sunday, April 23, 2017.  Public viewing will be Friday, April 28, 2017 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

She was a native of Caswell County, North Carolina, she worked at surrounding nursing facilities and Cone Mill.

Lottie was a loving wife for 68 years, mother of 13 children, grandmother of 53 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great grandchildren, she created 5 generations.

Although Lottie has raised 13 children of her own, she still had enough love to give to a lot of others.  Lottie will be well remembered by her family and friends whom she left great memories with.  She impacted a lot of lives, with her caring and loving spirit.

Proceeded her in death include: Parents; Preston Graves and Sendie Graves Moore; daughter: Linda Dickerson; godson: James Carter, brothers: James Graves and Bishop Preston Graves II; sisters: Bertha Pinnix, Vida Bigelow, Lusterine Garrett, and her twin sister Lula Graves.

Surviving relative and special friends to cherish her memory, include: Husband, Russell Thomas and son Clinton Thomas of the home.  Sons: Clifford Thomas (Joyce), Leon Thomas ( Rhonda), Barry Thomas (Toni), Wayne Thomas (Monica), Michael Thomas and Rodney Thomas; daughters: Gail Price (John), Gloria Faye Thomas, Ernestine Rogers (Jody), Wendy Wingate (Orlando), Cindy Yancey (Darren); brother-in-laws: John Thomas (Jane), Sylvester Pinnix, Floyd Watlington and sister-in-law Ivadell Graves; godsons; David Morehead, Norris Carter and Jerry Settle; special grandchildren that she considered her own because she helped raise them are: Jimmie Johnson, Russell Simpson, Ta'Asheli King, Viktoria Thomas and Leon Thomas Jr., and Clumon Totten who transported her to and from Diva Dialysis.  Special nephews: Angelo Galloway (Penny) and Kenneth Turner (Nancy); special friends: James and Betty Mills, Robert McCollum, her nurse Johnnie Mae German and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

McLaurin Funeral Home is serving the family.
