Lenora F. Watlington "Nokie"

CLINTON, MD - Ms. Lenora F. Watlington, age 80, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026 at her residence.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 from the Bethesda Baptist Church, 1808 Capitol Avenue NE, Washington, D.C. The viewing will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m.

The interment will follow in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.

"Nokie" as she was affectionately called was born on June 22, 1946 in Reidsville, NC to James and Annie Adams Watlington.

She was educated in the local public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1964.

For many years, she worked in the government sector and retired from United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Sister Watlington was a faithful and dedicated member of Bethesda Baptist Church for nearly five decades, touching the live of countless individual through her service, kindness and care.

Survivors include sister: Augustine Watlington Harris (Emanuel); nieces: Camille Brooks and Cynthia Singleton; great nieces: Shauna Singleton-Brown, Kala Singleton Yamba and Tamara Singleton Alsbrooks; great-nephew: Jordon Payne; a host of relatives and friends.
